Bus Training

Open doors to opportunity and equip our new neighbors. Assist refugees in navigating public transportation systems, including routes, schedules, and landmarks.

Childcare during Classes

Supporting parents, shaping futures with care. Provide short-term childcare assistance for refugee parents during classes or meetings.

English Language Learning

Empowering voices, building community. Help refugees improve their English language skills through tutoring, conversation practice, and language workshops.

Youth Mentoring

Guiding paths, shaping futures – one friendship at a time. Offer guidance, support, and mentorship to refugee youth and young adults as they adjust to their new environment.

House to Home (Group)

Turn houses into homes to create a haven. Assist with preparing the homes of refugee families, including furnishing, cleaning, organizing, and decorating.

Cosponsorship (Group)

Building bridges, forging friendships. Partner with Della Lamb to walk hand-in-hand with a refugee family. Provide support with housing, transportation, finances, and community integration.

We are actively seeking individuals and groups interested in volunteering with us! Whether you prefer to contribute as part of a team or on your own, there are plenty of opportunities available. Our greatest need for volunteers currently lies in Refugee Services, where your assistance can make a significant impact on the lives of those in need.

We also have openings for volunteers to support our Early Ed classrooms and teachers on a regular but condensed basis. Additionally, we welcome volunteers to coach with our youth sports teams, which are dedicated to empowering inner-city youth. why volunteer to help our neighbors?

Vulnerable Circumstances:

Refugees face significant vulnerabilities, having fled conflict, persecution, or disaster. According to UNHCR, there were over 36 million refugees worldwide by the middle of 2023, emphasizing the critical need for assistance and support.

Economic Hardships:

Many refugees arrive in their host countries with limited resources, making it challenging to meet their basic needs. Della Lamb, like all resettlement agencies, exists to stand in the gaps and help refugees towards sufficiency, but external partners are key to making new neighbors thrive long term.

Social Disconnection:

Refugees frequently experience social isolation and a sense of disconnection from their new communities. Studies have shown that language barriers, cultural differences, and the trauma of displacement contribute to feelings of loneliness among refugees, highlighting the importance of community support and inclusion.
